Libyan waiting game favors Gaddafi

By Victor Kotsev TEL AVIV – The Western “military option” in Libya has turned into a military fashion show of questionable merit. In order to believe this, we need not take the word of American and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defense officials – many of whom, such as Pentagon chief Robert Gates and NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen, have been singing the “there is no military solution” refrain practically since the beginning of the intervention. Nor do we really need to believe the analysts who have sought to explain what the show is really about. It is enough to look at all the “covert” ……. [Full Post]

by Gregory Elich Much has been made of the defection of several Libyan officials to the West. We are told that the Muammar Qaddafi is losing support even within his inner circle, and the defections underscore the success of the NATO mission. The Libyan government’s days are numbered, it is averred. The latest defections, by Libyan foreign minister and former intelligence chief Moussa Koussa, and Libyan UN representative Ali Abdessalam Treki, may not have been quite as spontaneous as Western officials would have us to think. “I don’t believe that [Koussa] necessarily decided on his own,” observes former CIA officer Emile Nakleh. “I judge that ……. By Layla Anwar An Arab Woman Blues, April 2, 2011 I really should stop reading other people’s tweets and I should quit Twitter altogether…alternatively I should just talk to myself and pay zero attention to what others are talking about, because 9 times out of 10 they are talking from their asses. The latest in line of pure bullshit coming from so-called liberals, lefties and activists for “human rights and social/political justice” is the abysmal stand on Libya. Truly disgraceful, shocking, flabbergasting…you name it they are guilty of it… I observe people’s reactions on the famous social media that has led so called “Spring Revolutions” ……. [Full Post]

Did any of those starry-eyed ‘Humanitarian Interventionists’ NOT expect this? Seriously? Expect a lot more where this came from. It’s called ‘protecting the civilian population’ – NATO style. New York Daily News March 31, 2011 40 civilians reportedly killed in NATO air strikes on Tripoli; Defense Secretary to address congress BY Lukas I. Alpert At least 40 civilians have been killed in NATO air strikes on Tripoli, the Vatican’s top envoy to Libya said Thursday. “They are killing dozens of civilians,” said Bishop Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli. “In the Tajoura neighborhood, around 40 civilians were killed, and a house with a family inside collapsed.” “In the ……. Who is arming the Libyan Rebels?

The U.N. Security Council imposed an arms embargo on Libya on Feb. 26 along with travel bans and asset freezes for Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and members of his family and inner circle. [ID:nN26176835]. The following pictures were taken in and around rebel held Benghazi during the two week period prior to the start of military action by France and the UK on 19 March 2011. They are a pretty clear indication that, prior to the outbreak of hostilities, the rebels had access to some brand new weaponry of standard NATO issue. By Patrick Martin 28 March 2011 The Libyan National Council, the Benghazi-based group that speaks for the rebel forces fighting the Gaddafi regime, has appointed a long-time CIA collaborator to head its military operations. The selection of Khalifa Hifter, a former colonel in the Libyan army, was reported by McClatchy Newspapers Thursday and the new military chief was interviewed by a correspondent for ABC News on Sunday night. Hifter’s arrival in Benghazi was first reported by Al Jazeera on March 14, followed by a flattering portrait in the virulently pro-war British tabloid the Daily Mail on March 19. The Daily Mail described Hifter as one ……. [Full Post]

by Stephen Lendman Obama’s March 28 television address wreaked of hypocrisy, lies and disdain for basic democratic values, making an indefensible case for naked aggression against a non-belligerent country. America’s media approved. On March 28, New Times writer Helene Cooper headlined, “Obama Cites Limits of US Role in Libya,” saying: Obama “defended the American-led military assault in Libya on Monday, saying it was in the national interest of the United States to stop a potential massacre that would have ‘stained the conscience of the world,’ ” even though no threat existed until: – Washington showed up with co-belligerents France and Britain; – beginning in 2010, ……. Wow That Was Fast! Libyan Rebels Have Already Established A New Central Bank Of Libya

By Michael T. Snyder (The Economic Collapse Blog) The rebels in Libya are in the middle of a life or death civil war and Moammar Gadhafi is still in power and yet somehow the Libyan rebels have had enough time to establish a new Central Bank of Libya and form a new national oil company.  Perhaps when this conflict is over those rebels can become time management consultants.  They sure do get a lot done.  What a skilled bunch of rebels – they can fight a war during the day and draw up a new central bank and a new national oil company at night …….
